Words can not describe how proud the ex-Pats are of the courage and heroism that our ukrainian Brothers and Sisters have shown the World over the last three months. We are so proud to call ourselves ukrainian. Our prayers and hopes are with you as you chart a course of freedom for generations to come. God be with you!

To my ukrainian Brothers and Sisters as they risk their lives for a free Ukraine, our prayers and best wishes to you as protection from their bullets. To quote the Scottish William Wallace as he spoke to his countrymen preparing for battle, "They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom!" Godspeed and may he protect you as you undertake the just battle for yourselves and generations for years to come. God be with you!

My Brothers and Sisters, I am sorry that I am so far away to help you in your struggle for ukrainian freedom from Russia. I will try to send money to the Opposition Groups to support your efforts. Please know that in America, we are with you!

I arrived in Ukraine last Sunday and came to Kremenchug to meet two girls I was chatting with while in Los Angeles. It seems to be a nice enough and large city but not speaking the language is a definite hindrance. I would not believe the stories you hear about ukrainian women looking for foreign men. I find the women to be just as indifferent to men and seems to be dressing more to impress each other than to attract and keep a man. Good luck though. I came from Dnepropetrovsk on the slow train - 176 km took five hours to cover - left at 6:50 p.m. and arrived at midnight. It appears as though from Kiev the distance is about the same. The Kremin Hotel and others are not expensive but no one seems to know where a laundry-mat is and the language barrier inadvertently made me pay 57.00 USd for a simple load of laundry, lol. Live and learn I guess. Oh yeah if you stay at the Kremin Hotel do get the free breakfast option. It is also very loud with kids (and drunks)hanging out nearby and people in general walking back and forth (talking loud and clicking high heels) to the beach bars. Local buses are cheap (3 grivnas = about .30 cents) but it is difficult to know where many of them actually go other than eventually to some downtown central location.

Thank you for the up-to-date photo and comprehensive history of Kremenchug. One of the best site about this intriguing central ukrainian city with quarter of million people. I will continue checking in for your update.
Wishing you all well! :)

Hi Magne,
I have picked Kremenchuk off the map. It looks nice, I would like to go there this summer and ... maybe meet a nice ukrainian girl ? Do you know of any local agencies ? Any other tips about the town. Nice beaches ? Easy to get to from Kyiv ?
Thanks !
David

Hello, can you give me the name and location of the place "Koropowka" today. It should be near Kremenchug. My father, a German soldier, must have been killed near that place on Nov.3 1943. This is the only information we have. I now have a map with ukrainian letters and Latin letters of the place so I could find the place which I would like to visit.
Thank you so much
Otto

a supermarket as good as you can find anywhere else in europe and america , called Prostor where you can buy anything you may think of in just one shop. There is two main public markets , one for food recently refurbished to ver good standards and the other is for clothes and all short of household items. Beware that imported items are as expensive, if not more than in the UK and in particular whisky and champagne can reach astronomical prices but if you stick with Vodka(much better than over here , particularly Nemirof and Olimp) beer and local champagne you will not be dissapointed.
Also beware before travelling to Kremenchuk that you are going to an industrial city ,the town centre is very beautiful and full of options but the outskirts are full of factories as you are not in Crimea. I certainly have travelled a lot over there and do not believe at all that it is a dirty city and people are welcoming (if you behave with respect to them because it is their town where you are visiting) , certainly I do not have nothing negative to say about ukrainians in general and Kremenchuk in particular.I marry my wife over there and we like to get back as much as we can ,and we enjoy visiting there every time. If you need any specific information, feel free to ask and we will like to help if we can

Dear Steve, (6456)
It is nice to read such sophisticated thoughts of a real American patriot in the ukrainian Guestbook of this site.
Unfortunately not all visitors can understand your advanced English; however, you can ask to translate your letters some visitors if you wish. I do believe it will be very interesting and useful discussion for many people who are thinking about immigration in the USA. Also you will have a chance to find receptive people from Ukraine and their opinion right here.
With the best wishes,
Alex from Canada

Reply for 5791. Sorry, I’ve just changed keyboard and can’t write Cyrillic now.
Volodia, you have to think about reverse pipeline as soon as it possible. Whisky is just bad copy of ukrainian samogon. Can you imagine, what good ukrainians gorilka is? I believe that rich oilman of Texas can estimate what is natural ukrainian product. You just have to try and you will be rich as gangsters of 20-30myears in USA. It is for sure. Happy New Years and Merry Christmas.

If you can understand ukrainian, just switch to the ukrainian version of the site and you`ll see the captions just like at the old site. If you can`t, ukrainian captions like at the old site won`t help you anyway.

The people of Ukraine are so beautiful. I visited there in 1998, 2000, and 2002 for 16 days each. I was in Kremenchuk visiting friends. The food was soo good, we swam in the Dneiper, and I stayed at Zigalinkos and other homes. My best memory is how loving the ukrainian people are. I cry easily when I think of the relationships I made. I love them very much. Dave Johnson

Sorry for late response. Three good Meals (breakfast, Lunch & dinner) won’t cost you more than 120 Grivna=$20/day. However, if you go to pubs or somewhere every eve then add $10 to it. Weekends might be costlier... If you go to a nightclub. ;-)
Personally I feel comfortable with a budget $50/day. It’s as if you spend less one day, then few dollars more on the next day. Moreover it’s summer there... too many booz... too many girls... and mind you, above figures are for only one person. In case you are meeting with a ukrainian lady… then I suggest you hiring an Accountant. :D LOL
Take care and have a nice trip.
